Federal Territories :
The Federal Territories consist of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

Cities :
All cities which are located within the administrative areas of Local Authorities nationwide.

Progressive :

  • Strong and competitive economic achievement as well as fair and just distribution of opportunities;

  • Provision of comprehensive infrastructure and public facilities that meet the needs of the people;
  • Development of social and spiritual civilisation grounded on religious values; and
  • Formation of a society with a culture of excellent, knowledgeable, mastering technology, competent, morally upright and with a high sense of identity.

Prosperous :

  • Planned, quality, comfortable and safe cities;

  • Efficient, reliable and safe public transportation system;

Objectives of KWP

  • To carry out its duties and responsibilities to its stakeholders through the formulation of policies, strategic planning and implementation of integrated development programmes;
  • To enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the service delivery system through a hand- on and people-friendly approach, widespread use of ICT and creation of one-stop centres;
  • To ensure that the management and administration of Local Authorities and Statutory Bodies are based on policies and regulations that have been stipulated by the Ministry in order to create Local Authorities and Statutory Bodies that are independent especially in terms of finance;
  • To generate continuous economic growth through a strong Federal Territories Development Plan to create more job opportunities;
  • To ensure that the development in the Federal Territories is under controlled and not affecting the natural  environment;
  • To ensure that urban management such as the aspect of cleanliness, management and disposal of solid wastes and maintenance of drains is at the highest level;
  • To upgrade the drainage system especially in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley to overcome the flood problem;
  • To ensure that tourism programmes and facilities are systematically implemented to turn the Federal Territories into major tourism centres that focused on shopping, education and health ;
  • To realise the aspiration to turn Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan into garden cities;
  • To minimise the problem of hardcore poverty in the Federal Territories through programmes that can raise the income of the people;
  • To create more conducive settlement centres for the comfort and well-being of people of all levels;
  • To encourage the use of public transportation and reduce the use of private vehicles in order to overcome the problem of traffic congestion in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur;
  • To build more facilities for the community such as Community, Women and Youth Activity Centres to ensure that Human and Community Development Programmes can be implemented efficiently and effectively; and
  • To increase and diversify Human, Community and Safety Development Programmes to overcome social ills and crimes.
